Terms of Service
These terms govern your access to and use of War-Tracker ("we", "us", "our"), including the website at war-tracker.com, the public JSON API at /api/v1/*, the remote MCP server at /mcp, the real-time WebSocket at /ws/strikes, and any other surface we publish (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
War-Tracker publishes a real-time, public OSINT corpus of armed-conflict events, vessel movements, and related geopolitical data. Data is sourced from public social-media posts and other open-source intelligence channels, classified by an automated pipeline, and surfaced through the Service. The methodology is documented at /methodology.
2. Access tiers
The Service exposes three access tiers:
- Free tier — the web map, the WebSocket feed, the schema-discovery endpoints (
/api/v1/regions,/api/v1/countries,/api/v1/event-types,/api/v1/vessels/facets), the LLM-onboarding files (/llms.txt,/skill.md), the OpenAPI spec, and our MCP discovery endpoint. Rate-limited to 60 requests per minute per IP. No payment required. Open CORS. - Paid tier (x402) — per-event share URLs, the paginated events API, the maritime endpoints, the Strait of Hormuz endpoints, hub pages, and full media bytes. Each request settles a USDC micropayment via the x402 protocol. The machine-readable price list lives at /x402.json and the human-readable price list at /pricing.
- Bulk / commercial agreement — for redistribution of the full corpus, mirroring, or volume above what the x402 surface supports, contact us at sales@war-tracker.com.
3. Acceptable use
You may use the Service for any lawful purpose — research, journalism, education, OSINT analysis, AI agent grounding, building downstream applications — subject to the rules below. You may not:
- Circumvent the rate limit, the bot-detection systems, or the x402 payment gate (for example by rotating IPs, spoofing User-Agent headers to evade classification, or sharing paid responses publicly to amortise a single payment across many readers).
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law, infringes intellectual-property rights, defames any person, or harasses, endangers, or doxxes any individual.
- Attempt to access systems, data, or accounts you are not authorised to access; probe for vulnerabilities outside a coordinated disclosure programme; or interfere with the operation of the Service (DoS, traffic flooding, etc.).
- Use the Service to make safety-critical, life-or-death, or targeting decisions. The Service is OSINT — see the disclaimer in Section 9.
AI training crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, anthropic-ai, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, CCBot, Bytespider, cohere-ai, Diffbot, Meta-ExternalAgent, and similar) are required to pay for access to paid surfaces via x402. Continuing to crawl paid surfaces after receiving HTTP 402 responses without settling is a breach of these terms.
4. Accounts
Some features (likes, comments, saved views, premium tools) require an account, created by OAuth with X, Google, or Microsoft. You are responsible for keeping your OAuth credentials secure and for activity that occurs under your account. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, that submit spam or abusive content, or that automate interactions on the social surfaces in violation of Section 3.
5. Payments and refunds
Per-request payments settle on-chain through the x402 facilitators listed at /x402.json. Payments are final once settled on-chain. If we deliver an error response or are unable to fulfil a paid request, we will not bill — the facilitator will return the payment per the x402 protocol. If you believe you were billed for a request we could not fulfil, contact sales@war-tracker.com with the transaction hash; we will investigate and refund off-chain where appropriate.
6. Intellectual property and licensing
The arrangement, classification, and presentation of the corpus is © War-Tracker. Individual events link back to public source posts, which remain the property of their original authors; we claim no ownership over the underlying sources.
You may cite, quote, and link to individual events for commentary, research, journalism, or AI-generated answers, with attribution to the canonical per-event URL https://war-tracker.com/share/{event_id}/{slug}. Bulk redistribution, mirroring, or republishing of more than a de minimis share of the corpus requires a separate written agreement — contact sales@war-tracker.com.
If you publish derivative work that materially relies on War-Tracker data, please credit "war-tracker.com" with a clickable link.
7. Third-party content and links
The Service links to and embeds excerpts from third-party sources (public Telegram channels, social-media posts, news articles). We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content of those third-party sources. Embedded media is served through a privacy-preserving proxy where possible; original-source URLs are always disclosed in the per-event JSON-LD.
8. Privacy
Our handling of personal data is described at /privacy. By using the Service you consent to that handling.
9. No warranty — OSINT disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation.
War-Tracker classifies open-source content from third-party social-media posts. Source material may be propaganda, misinformation, or simply wrong. Classification is performed by an automated pipeline and is not guaranteed to be correct. You must not use the Service as the sole basis for safety-critical, life-or-death, targeting, or other high-stakes operational decisions. Always verify against multiple independent sources.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will War-Tracker, its operators, contributors, processors, or data providers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (a) your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service; (b) any conduct or content of any third party on the Service; (c) any content obtained from the Service; or (d) unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content.
For any aggregate liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, the total liability of War-Tracker is limited to the greater of (i) the amounts you paid to use the Service in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (ii) one hundred US dollars (USD 100).
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless War-Tracker and its operators from and against any third-party claims arising out of your breach of these terms, your misuse of the Service, your violation of applicable law, or your infringement of the rights of others.
12. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service, in whole or in part, with or without notice, if we believe these terms have been breached, if required by law, or if continued operation poses a security or legal risk. You may stop using the Service at any time; if you have an account you may delete it from /account.
13. Changes to these terms
We may modify these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced on our blog at /blog. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
14. Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of War-Tracker is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the competent courts of that jurisdiction. Where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence provides additional rights, those rights apply and are not displaced by this clause.
15. Miscellaneous
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right. These terms, together with our privacy policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and War-Tracker regarding the Service.
